When my husband and I first got married, we stayed in the town where we had attended college…for five years. We were serving at a local church, and we loved the community. There were many people who invited us into their hearts and homes, treating us like family. When we had Hannah, that same love was extended to her. We had occasion to visit this town this past weekend, and to some degree, it felt like we had never left.
We stayed with friends who were our in-town grandparents for Hannah (and good friends to us, as well). They have the gift of hospitality in an amazing way. Guests in their home cease to feel like guests, but end up feeling like family. Case in point….our kids. We haven’t lived there in quite some time, nor visited. Caitey Grace couldn’t even remember visiting these dear ones, but in a matter of minutes, she was fully at home, investigating the creek, running in and out, wanting to play dress-up and asking for snacks. What a ministry-we weren’t even in their home for 24 hours, but I feel as though we had a vacation of a couple of days.
It is my goal to not let life here get so hectic that I neglect visiting these dear friends and the many others that we didn’t have time to visit.
